John E. Doster MD
Dr. Doster joined Anderson Area Cancer Center in 1996. Born and raised in South Georgia, he spent all of his free time playing baseball. When the Braves did not come calling, he attended Georgia Southern University, graduating in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He then attended the Medical College of Georgia, obtaining his M.D. degree in 1991. He completed his postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC in 1996. Board certified in Medical Oncology, he is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Medical Association, and the South Carolina Medical Association.
Dr. Doster is an active member of the medical staff at AnMed Health. He served in various leadership roles including Medical Executive Committee, Chairman of the Oncology Department, Internal Review Board member, Chairman of the Cancer Committee, Quality Control Committee member, Oncology Data Management Physician Supervisor, and liaison for Oncology Research (Upstate NCORP). He has also served as a board member for the Cancer Association of Anderson.
Dr. Doster and his wife, Sydel, enjoy working and serving together at Anderson Area Cancer Center where she is supervisor in the infusion room. They have 5 children, 4 sons and 1 daughter, who have kept life full outside of the practice. They enjoy attending and serving at Grace Church – Anderson. Other passions for Dr. Doster include college football, hiking, gardening, wine collecting, and travelling, especially to Maine and Canada.
